Logic Puzzles are a fascinating way to test ones own common sense. Unlike crossword puzzle and quiz type passtimes, Logic Puzzles need no subject background knowledge, just common sense, an enquiring mind and a sharp eye.

You are given or construct a chart and have a set of clues. By your own ingenuity and using the clues, you must deduce furthur facts and complete the chart. You become a detective in the world that the puzzle author has provided for you.

The Logic Buff

The Logic Buff is in fact a DOS program to assist in the solution of the Logic Puzzles referred to above. This was written by me quite a while ago as an exercise and has only just re-surfaced.   At the time, the screen appearance was not considered important and is still simple ASCII driven CGA 40-column screen displays. However, the Logic Buff works well in a Window when run from a shortcut on the desktop.  Also, with source code of about 1600 Basic statements you can be sure that the performance belies its playful appearance. The Logic Buff may one day be written for Windows but meantime a nice portable DOS version is what's going.

The Logic Buff is offered here 'as is' and is free for FUN users -anyone else please contact me.   If you like Logic Puzzles, download the LOGIC BUFF -you won't be disappointed.   Its not 'cheating' ... You still have to think hard about the problem, but it takes out the pencilwork. The Logic Buff will help to encourage even more Logic Problem puzzlers.
